Shadowhound Mount Quest Guide

This guide does not include details that are provided in the text of the quest. Instead, it provides travel tips, location coordinates, time estimates, and other information to help you get through this quest line.

The one thing I neglected to record, was the level of the mobs for each quest. I will say that they started off as low 20's 2-dots, and by the end were 29 3-dots, and then 30 4-dots. If someone else can provide that information I will edit this guide to include it.

Note: I did this entire quest line solo (level 40 Rakurr Shaman) except for the Ceremony of Summoning quest, where I was joined by a 38 Bard and 29 Ranger. Time to complete quests will vary depending on a variety of factors (grouped/solo, level, run speed, Riftway usage, levitate, etc...)

Part 1: ~7 minutes

Location: Gaxton Village (-20870, 13567, 718 in Martok (-20 13)) inside a building.
To Get Here: Use a teleporter to Martok or the Riftway to Wildgrowth Forest

NPC: Witch Doctor Ravix

Quest: Shadowhound Counsel (Speak to Muerden)
Time: 7 minutes (travel)

Part 2: ~15 minutes

Location: Muerdan's Hut (-42630, -81760, 887 in Sundering Wastelands(-19 12)) inside a hut on the water.
To Get Here: Take path, or run across water with Levitate.

NPC: Muerdan

Quest: Beasts of Ghalnn's Realm (Speak with Nerail Tharazen)
Time: 15 minutes (travel)

Part 3: ~90 minutes, 3 Quests, 75 kills

Location: Shadow's Edge (-42630, 84180, 17235 in Lomshir (-15 -9)) outside a tent.
To Get Here: Use Riftway from Wildgrowth Forest to Lomshir. Run east to Shadow's Edge

NPC: Nerail Tarazen - Gives 3 quests, one at a time

Quest #1: Drawing Their Attention (Kill 35 Tiberian Wildwood Shadowhounds)
Time: 40 minutes (25 min killing, 15 min travel using Lomshir/CIS Riftway)

Quest #2: Ghalnn's Awareness (Kill 40 Dark Elf Ghosts)
Time: 35 minutes (28 min killing, 7 min travel)

Quest #3: Locate Camp Dhanrak (Meet Swiftfang Hekosh at Camp Dhanrak in Spider Bluffs, Thestra))
Time: 15 minutes (travel)

Part 4: ~3 hours, 9 Quests, ~228 kills

Location: Camp Dhanrak (1040, -50470, 50551 in Spider Bluffs (-26, 25))
To Get Here: Use Lomshir Riftway to Renton Keep, then run south to Camp.

There are 3 quest NPCs here, giving a total of 9 quests, most of which can be done at the same time. One quest tracks the other 6, which involve killing various mobs.

NPC: Swiftfang Hekosh - Gives 5 quests

Quest #1: Many Componants (This is just a checklist of the 6 killing quests)
Time: 3 hours (20 min travel, 160 min killing)

Quest #2: The Wolf Within (25 Sticky Silk and 15 Binding Silk)
Time: 35 minutes

Quest #3: Vial Discrepancies (22 Ichorous Venom and 22 Sedative Venom)
Time: 25 minutes

Quest #4: Hounds of the Invasion (Kill 17 Darkpaw Stalkers or Hunters and kill 17 Gulgrethor or Shinak Shadowhounds) (available after finishing Many Componants)
Time: 40 minutes (20 min travel, 20 min killing)

Quest #5: Qalian Components (Find Farmouka in Strand of the Ancients, Qalia)
Time: 6 minutes (travel - Riftway from Renton Keep to Strand of the Ancients)

NPC: Ghostclaw Kagin - Gives 2 quests

Quest #1: The Essence of Kaon (20 Kaon Fairy Essence)
Time: 20 minutes

Quest #2: Gullwing Portals (25 Bluff Gull Wings)
Time: 30 minutes

NPC: Nighthunter Mikka - Gives 2 quests

Quest #1: Rituals of the Adhendreg (35 Ashen Hills Ash)
Time: 25 minutes

Quest #2: Creature Comfort (30 Wild Boar Mane)
Time: 25 minutes

Part 5: ~2 hours 40 minutes, 3 Quests, ~125 kills

Location: Strand of the Ancients (20645, -77650, 713 in Strand of the Ancients (-10 -9)) inside a hut on the beach.
To Get Here: Use Riftway from Renton Keep to Strand of the Ancients.

NPC: Farmouka Velmesh

Quest #1: A Riddle of Cats and Reptiles (collect 12 Brilliant Yellow Tiger Eyes, 4 Unruptured Lion Spleens, 8 Flecked Snake Eggs, and 30 Snapper Scapula Shards)
Time: 90 minutes (Lion Spleens took a long time to drop - others went fast)

Quest #2: Skrilien Practices (35 Imbued Carmine Feathers, 35 Viridian Feathers, and 35 Ochre Feathers)
Time: 65 minutes

Quest #3: Vulmane Guidance (Return to Hekosh with bag of items)
Time: 6 minutes (travel - Riftway from Strand of the Ancients to Renton Keep)

Part 6: ~4.5 hours, 6 Quests, ~175 kills

Location: Camp Dhanrak (1040 -50470, 50551 in Spider Bluffs (-26, 25))
To Get Here: Use Riftway from Strand of the Ancients to Renton Keep

NPC: Swiftfang Hekosh

Quest #1: Precision Hoarding (collect 4 Maiming Beaks, 45 Lizard Eye Blood, and 6 Oilskin Worm Mucus)
Time: 80 minutes (10 min travel, 70 min killing)

Quest #2: Provoking Shadowhounds (this quest tracks the 3 quests to kill shadowhounds)
Time: ~3 hours (total of the 3 shadowhound quests + return travel time)

Quest #3: Words of Trengal (Kill 32 Large Trengal Wards)
Time: 70 minutes (10 min travel, 60 min killing - NOTE: these are scattered, look behind TK and near the two gates to the valley)

Quest #4: Mountain Shadows (Find Ghostclaw Liarn at Norther Border, Thstra)
Time: ~15 minutes (travel)

NPC: Ghostclaw Kagin

Quest: Ghalnn's Forgotten (Kill 40 Ocean Watch Shadowhounds)
Time: 45 minutes (10 min travel, 30 min killing)

NPC: Nighthunter Mikka

Quest: Ashen Shadowhounds (Kill 35 Ashen Shadowhounds)
Time: 40 minutes (10 min travel, 30 min killing)

Part 7: 2 hours, 2 Quests, 80 kills

Location: Northern Border (-23900, -33700, 76011 in Falgarholm (-23, 27))
To Get Here: Travel NW from Camp Dhanrak to Norther Border (on foot/mount)

NPC: Ghostclaw Liarn

Quest #1: Ghalnn's Foes (Kill 20 Worshippers of Vothdar, 30 Worshippers of Valuse, and 30 Worshippers of Alurad. Also kill at least one of the leaders - Telorok, Thaden or Ancestral Revenant)
Mob Level: 29 3-dot, leader is 29 4-dot
Time: 110 minutes (20 min travel, 90 min killing)

Quest #2: Enemies to the South (Find Silvermane Alopek in Wardship of the Sleeping Moon, Thestra)
Time: ~10 minutes (travel)

Part 8: 1 hour 40 minutes, 2 Quests, 75 kills

Location: Wardship of the Sleeping Moon (-5200, 6000, 9894 in Wardship of the Sleeping Moon (-23, 25)) outside town walls by a big tree.
To Get Here: Use Riftway from Frostway Shard to Ruins of Vol Tuniel, then run north. Or, take the safer route and follow the path south from Northern Border to Wardship.

NPC: Silvermane Alopek

Quest #1: Enemies of Ghalnn's (Kill 25 Worshippers of Vol Anari, 25 Worshippers of Vaelion, and 25 Worshippers of Gloriann. Also kill at least one of the leaders. The only one I could find was in the cave, upper left side.
Mob Level: 29 3-dot, leader is 29 4-dot
Time: 90 minutes (30 min travel, 60 min killing) TIP: Take Vol Tuniel to New targanor and start at thr Gloriann cam, then work your way back to Wardship.

Quest #2: Nexus of Summoning (Travel back to Nerail Tharazen in Shadow's Rdge, Qalia)
Time: 10 minutes (travel - Riftway Vault of Heroes to Lomshir)

Note: This NPC also gives a quest to kill Bloodhowler wolves. This is not required for the shadowhound mount.

Part 9: ~50 minutes, 2 Quests, ~10 kills

Location: Shadow's Edge (-42630, 84180, 17235 in Lomshir (-15 -9)) outside a tent.
To Get Here: Use Riftway from Vault of Heroes to Lomshir. Run east to Shadow's Edge

NPC: Nerail Tarazen

Quest: Ceremony of Summoning (kill mobs until you get 6 blood vials. Right-click the 6 skulls in the cave (stay inside the circle of skulls), then right click the shadowhound trap in your inventory. Nerail Tarazen spawns with 2 shadowhounds. Ignore the hounds and kill Nerail. When he dies another shadowhound spawns. Hail him and click "I am now your master". He gives you the shadowhound summoning collar and sends you back to Muerden near Martok.
Mob Level: 30 4-dot
Time: 30 minutes (5 minutes travel, 25 minutes killing)

NPC: Shadowhound

Quest: One Final Component (Travel back to Muerden in Sundering Wastelands, near Martok)
Time: 20 minutes (travel - Riftway Lomshir to Wildgrowth Forest)

Part 10: 1 minute, 1 Quest

Location: Muerdan's Hut (-42630, -81760, 887 in Sundering Wastelands(-19 12)) inside a hut on the water.
To Get Here: travel - Riftway Lomshir to Wildgrowth Forest

NPC: Muerdan

Quest: Riding a Shadowhound (Purchase a shadowhound saddle from Muerden for 10 gold)
Time: 1 minute
